The CarolBrass entry-level trumpet, model CTR-2000H-YSS(S) is identical to the model CTR-2000H-YSS, except that it has a silver-plated finish rather than polished lacquer. Like it's lacquered twin it is perfectly suited to a beginning trumpet player in regards to price and quality. The price is at the low end of all entry-level trumpets but the quality far surpasses the others. This horn could be played by a beginning player in elementary school all the way through high school and possibly on into college. At the heart of every trumpet is the valve block and its pistons. All .460 bore CarolBrass trumpets (which is most of them) use the same valve block with the same high-quality, CNC precision-engineered, stainless steel pistons that work flawlessly and contribute to excellent slotting. Many other manufactures use a metal called monel for their high-end trumpets and some lesser alloy for their entry-level trumpets. Stainless steel is superior to even the other trumpets' monel pistons because it is the absolute most resistant of any metal to corrosion, which leads to slow and sticky valves. CB valves are smooth and quick and will stay that way for many years.
This entry-level trumpet is made of yellow brass from the lead pipe through the bell. It has an adjustable ring on the third valve with a patented device to prevent the third valve slide from sliding off and a first valve slide hook. It has standard water keys and a silver-plated finish. The silver plating makes it play with a slightly brighter tone than its lacquered twin making it better suited for a lead player in a concert or jazz band.
